2015 Revolution Technologies Pro Tennis Classic Starts Sunday!

Qualifying for the 2015 Revolution Technologies Pro Tennis Classic, a $50,000 USTA Pro Circuit event held locally in Indian Harbour Beach, Florida, begins Sunday May 3. The tournament, which is played at Indian Harbour’s Kiwi Tennis Club, is one of three USTA Pro Circuit tournaments which determine a main draw wild card into the French Open. In the Har-Tru Wild Card Challenge, now in its third year, the American man and American woman who earn the most ATP World Tour and WTA ranking points at two of the three select USTA Pro Circuit clay-court events will earn main-draw wild cards into the 2015 French Open.

The women’s events at Dothan, Alabama, Charlottesville, Virginia, and Indian Harbour Beach make up the Women’s Wild Card Challenge. Louisa Chirico won the tournament at Dothan over fellow American Katerina Stewart, but fell to Stewart in a first round rematch in Charlottesville this week, making the Wildcard race a free for all. With Stewart and fellow American Allie Kiick in the semis this week in Charlottesville, and increased points available at Indian Harbour Beach, Chirico, Stewart, Kiick and just about any other American who performs well enough over the next two weeks might still theoretically claim enough points to nab the French Open wildcard, so it should be plenty competitive when the action returns to Indian Harbour next week.

The Revolution Technologies Pro Tennis Classic is played on Har-Tru, or green clay, and has seen a number of breakthrough performance from up and coming young stars in recent years, including Townsend, Melanie Oudin, Yaninina Wickmayer and Belinda Bencic. Taylor Townsend, the event’s defending Champion, is the top ranked returning entrants this year.

While still subject to late withdrawals, and additions for wildcards, the Main Draw and qualifying entry list for the 2015 Revolution Technologies Pro Tennis Classic, as of May 1, including player ranking, is as follows:

Word has it that Louisa Chirico, the current leader in the Wildcard Challenge, who originally entered and subsequently withdrew from this year’s Revolution Technologies Pro Tennis Classic, is in town and has accepted a qualifying wild card.

The tennis at our local event always rocks, so if you are in the area, come out and support the rising stars of the women’s game! Hope to see you at Kiwi!
